Dehnasar Lake Trek is one of the most scenic and spiritually significant treks in Himachal Pradesh. Situated at an altitude of approximately 4,280 meters above sea level in Kangra district, this high-altitude alpine lake offers spectacular mountain views and a thrilling trekking experience.
Dehnasar Lake is located near Barot Valley, around 25 km from Joginder Nagar and about 18 km from Barot. The lake remains covered under snow during winter and derives its water from melting glaciers. Due to its high altitude, sudden weather changes, including blizzards and hailstorms, are common in the region.
The trek begins from Polling Village near Barot and covers approximately 18 km. It is a moderately challenging uphill trek that usually takes 3 days if starting from Barot, with night halts required along the route. However, many trekkers prefer starting from Lohardi, which is the shortest yet steeper route to the lake.
This Dehnasar Lake Trek package includes transportation support, camping arrangements, meals, trek guidance, and porter assistance to ensure a safe and smooth trekking experience.
Dehnasar Lake holds religious importance and is believed to be associated with Goddess Parvati. According to local legends, she is said to visit the lake during the month of Bhadrapada (August–September). During this time, pilgrims visit the lake for spiritual purposes.
The trekking route passes through dense forests, lush meadows, rocky cliffs, and scenic ridgelines. The final stretch involves steep slopes and mountain terrain that reward trekkers with panoramic Himalayan views.
The lake remains frozen during winters due to thick snowfall, making the best trekking season from May to October. The peaceful environment, alpine beauty, and untouched landscapes make it ideal for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
